My favorite green bean casserole is the traditional casserole with green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and fried onions for the topping.

to impress guests at potlucks or holiday gatherings.

When shopping in the weeks prior to Thanksgiving, pick up the ingredients as you see them on sale; grab the green beans and mushroom soup, along with the french fried onions, prior to the holiday to save a few pennies. This way, you can take advantage of any discounts or promotions available before the prices go up closer to Thanksgiving. Additionally, planning ahead and purchasing these ingredients in advance will ensure that you have everything you need for your Thanksgiving meal without any last-minute stress or rushing to the store.

Once the ingredients are gathered and you are ready to make the green bean casserole, get out your 13×9 baking pan, either glass or aluminum, spray the bottom with cooking spray, and set aside. Heat the oven to 350°F.
Fold in the soup, milk, soy sauce, beans, and 2/3 cup onions in a 1 1/2-quart oven-safe casserole until all ingredients are combined.  Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Next, sprinkle the remaining onions on top for added crunch and flavor. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with the remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake for another 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
Let the green beans rest a few minutes before serving, so the flavors can really come together and the casserole can settle.

Serve hot and enjoy!
