Cabbage and Sausage

I most always have a craving for fresh peppers, red onions and cabbage, I like to use them in stir-fry, soups, and now this amazing recipe for the cabbage and sausage dish.   This dish will fill you up with a warm hearty meal, right when you need it the most.

The cabbage and sausage dish is a quick and easy meal to make, I mean if cooking last minute is what keeps you motivated this dish is for you.

Simply chop the fresh peppers and onions, add to your skillet and sauté in olive oil until cooked thru, transfer to a bowl.

Get out your deep dish pot add olive oil and heat up, now add your sliced sausage to the hot pan. You can use polska kielbasa, andouille, chicken sausage, or bratwurst.  When the sliced sausage is cooked thru add to the bowl of cooked peppers and onions .

Now add the chopped cabbage into the pan with the pan juices, and additional olive oil and cook until the cabbage is soft, add back in the meat, stirring to blend, add back in the peppers and onions.  Stir to combine everything, coating with the oil and juices.

Season with salt, pepper, and your choice of spices.  I like to use a rustic blend, which includes garlic powder, onion flakes, cumin, turmeric, rosemary and thyme, these spices create a warm aromatic flavor to the dish.

Heat to serving temp, no dish into single serve bowls, dinner is served!

A great side is a nice warm loaf of garlic bread.

  • Wash the veggies Slice the onion, add to bowl Chop the green and red pepper, add to bowl Chop the cabbage set aside. Slice sausage, set aside
  • Add olive oil to pan Toss in peppers and onion, coat with oil. Salt and pepper Cook until soft, transfer to bowl
  • Add sausage to pan, cook thru When the sliced sausage is cooked thru add to the bowl of cooked peppers and onions, set aside
