Welcome to Long Ears Farm

Hi, I’m Nancy I live on a small farm in rural Colorado. I have a passion for trying new recipes, you could say I really luv to cook, and bake.

Over the years I have found the best way to cook and bake, for my recipes until the dishes are perfection.

So far I have shared my recipes to my family and friends in 2 Cookbooks, with my latest addition now being offered thru my website, check it out here.

Long Ears Farm is dedicated to my luv of long ears,  bunny ears, dog ears, donkey ears, you name it where there are long ears, there is my luv!

I luv long ears,  bunny ears, dog ears, donkey ears, you name it where there are long ears, there is my luv! Maybe its not so much the ears, but what is attached to them.  From the sweet eyes, and soft fur or warm coats, to the long hooved legs, or those feet that track endless amounts of mud into the house. Those long pointy or floppy ears, just bring me joy, make me feel happy inside.

I also luv living in the Rockies , for instance you can literally jump in the car and get to the mountains within 30 mins to 1 hour depending where you are in the state. I am super lucky to live really close to the Grand Mesa, just takes me about 20 mins to drive up to the top at 10,000 ft.

I invite you in to share my journey with me, sit back and relax, I hope what you find empowers to try new things, gives you a few laughs along the way, and inspires your personal passions.

AboutLong Ears Farm

My passion for living is baking and creating in the kitchen.
From canning fresh produce and fruit each summer and fall with my grown children to
Flipping thru magazines and trying those impossible dishes.
I always know that I can rely on the old family tried and true recipes.
I have written many cookbooks over the years, _this one_, thisone_ and this one, they have reminded me that I always go back to finding my true self in the kitchen, when I am covered in flour, lost in baking or making the biggest mess ever in the kitchen.
Sometimes my kitchen looks like a tornado hit it! And I have a really small space lol.
Now that the kitche and i have finally found our groove we are able to further the journey with sharing my recipes, thoughts, and kitchen wisdom with the world!
Gone are the days of rushing into the house after a long day at work, and trying to beat Betty Crocker at her own game , tirelessly trying to whip up a nutritious and delicious meal for the family, making it look effortless and taste good too!
Many a night was spent in my work coat cooking dinner, as I had not taken the time to take it off.
Straight to the kitchen , a glass of wine and my favorite casserole dish I went.
I was brought up on a salad, main entree, with a ton of side dishes, and of course a home baked dessert!
You can forge the dessert, it was survival of the fittest for my kids as they grew up.
You had one chance to eat dinner, and if you chose to sit there and pout over the broccoli on your plate, many nights when dinner was over, you went hungry. Ahhh those were the days, the days when parenting was free spirited and fun!
I hope you enjoy what I share with you, and if you ever find yourself looking for a little bit of those tried and true recipes feel free to check out my cookbook, there's something in them for everyone!

There are many things I love about living in the Rockies For instance you can literally jump in the car and get to the mountains within 30 mins. You can also enjoy the semi-arid landscape and we have access to many rivers, lakes and mountain streams.
Homemade jam makes a wonderful food gift all year long. Taking a little more effort and making your gifts from your own kitchen can go a long way in showing someone you care. Not only that, but home canning also gives you control in what’s in every jar. Homemade jam has no preservatives or unnecessary additives and you can create new flavors that you wouldn’t find in the store. These are the reasons I love to make my own homemade jam
